The Rio Grande Hall overflowed beyond the 250 chair initial seating arrangement. Some audience members stood to listen to the mayoral and council candidates respond to questions provided by the Chambers' Government Affairs Committee and the audience.

   
Candidates for Mayor; Mayor Bobby Duran and Councilman Gene Sanchez responded to questions posed by Moderator Bobby Ortega, Sr. Using a formal debate format, the candidates were allowed two minutes to respond to the first series of four questions with a one minute rebuttal, and a one minute response to the second series of five questions with no rebuttal.

Council candidates, seated at the head table, answered questions for about one-and-a-half hours.
